Biography

Dongsuk Kum received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2010. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Mobility in Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), and the Director of the Vehicular System Design and Control (VDC) Laboratory. His research centers on the Intelligent vehicular systems with particular interests in autonomous vehicles and electric powertrain.
Throughout his academic career, he has published more than 70 articles in top international journals and conferences, and he is also an inventor of 30 registered or filed patents. He has been active in providing technical consultations and conducting collaborative research projects with industry such as Hyundai Motor Company and Samsung.
Dongsuk Kum has been an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Korea Society of Automotive Engineers (KSAE). He has served associate editors for multiple international journal and
conferences including IEEE Trans. on Intelligent Transportation, Journal of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles, International Journal of Automotive Technology, IEEE Intelligent Vehicle Symposium, and IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference.
