KAIST–UNSW–Chungnam–NSW Hold First Meeting to Boost Deep Tech Startup Collaboration

The first round of discussions to promote startup collaboration among KAIST, UNSW, Chungnam Province, and New South Wales (NSW) took place today at the Austrade Seoul Office in Gwanghwamun, 19 May 2025. The meeting marked a significant step toward strengthening Korea–Australia ties in the deep tech startup ecosystem.

The session was attended by Minister Anoulack Chanthivong of the NSW Department of Industry and his team (Rebecca and David), along with Monica Lee, Yoojin Kim, and Sunah Kim from Austrade Seoul. Chungnam Province was represented by Yoonjoo Young, Jungseung Won, Pilseung Shin, Geunhwan Jeon, and Changjae Yoo. Professors KiTae Jang and Inhi Kim from # the Cho Chun Shik Graduate School of Mobility at KAIST also participated in the discussions. They engaged in in-depth conversations on future growth engines and the strategic direction of startup collaboration across sectors.

The two countries aim to foster startups in AI, robotics, biotechnology, energy, and agriculture, with KAIST and UNSW serving as central academic hubs. Both Chungnam and NSW pledged their full support for this bilateral initiative. The participating parties expressed strong expectations for innovative and impactful outcomes through this strengthened cooperation.
