5. Abstract : Autonomy in future air mobility should be addressed from an integrated systems perspective, in which perception, situational awareness, mission planning, path planning, and control are closely coupled. This talk reviews how foundation models and physical AI, including LLMs, VLMs, VLAs, and diffusion models, are being applied to robot and aircraft autonomy. In particular, it introduces recent research trends in mission planning, task generation/assignment, and motion planning for multi-robot and multi-agent systems, along with applications to UAVs and future air mobility. The talk also discusses research directions for advancing foundation models toward more verifiable and explainable unmanned autonomous systems by integrating them with formal specifications, optimization, and constraint programming.
