1. Speaker : Giancarlos Parady (The University of Tokyo)
2. Date & Venue : September 10th(Thur) 16:00~17:30, L409
3. Title : Micromobility beyond transport: Exploring its economic and environmental impacts * Title is changed partially.
4. Abstract : In this this presentation I explore two different dimensions of the adoption of e-micromobility that derive directly from the travel behaviour changes resulting from its introduction and expansion: 1) the impact of shared micromobility on rental housing prices and 2) the climate change mitigation potential of micromobility adoption. I will show under which conditions shared micromobility has a premium effect on rentals in Japanese cities, and the circumstances and the degree to which micromobility can mitigate climate change in different international contexts.
5. Short Bio : Giancarlos Parady is a lecturer in the Department of Urban Engineering at the University of Tokyo, Japan. His research focuses on incorporating social networks into travel behavior models, modeling activities in physical and virtual spaces, evaluating the impact of emerging transportation technologies on urban morphology, and conducting causal evaluations of human-centered transportation policies. His research has been recognized with awards from the City Planning Institute of Japan (CPIJ) and the Japan Society of Transportation Engineers (JSTE), and in 2025 he also received the University of Tokyo Faculty of Engineering Teaching Excellence Award.
