Title: Battery Safety Diagnostics: From Research to Practice
-
Date & Venue: November 27 (Thursday), 4:00–5:30 PM, L409
-
Abstract:
Battery safety diagnostics is a crucial enabler for preventing thermal runaway incidents in electric vehicles and energy storage systems, where even a single failure can lead to severe safety hazards and large-scale recalls.
This seminar presents advanced methodologies for battery safety diagnostics, integrating physics-based modeling and data-driven analytics to detect early signs of hazardous conditions.
The talk will cover the development of multi-scale diagnostic algorithms capable of identifying abnormal cell behaviors under diverse operating patterns, even in the presence of noise and measurement uncertainties.
Case studies from real-world applications will demonstrate how these algorithms have been deployed to predict potential thermal events, prevent large-scale recalls, and reduce financial losses.
Finally, we will discuss future directions in combining electrochemical models with AI-assisted feature extraction to enhance predictive accuracy and robustness, paving the way toward safer, more reliable battery systems.
