Prof. Seungyoung Ahn has received a Commendation from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

This commendation recognizes his contribution to establishing an advanced talent development framework for the railway sector and fostering core professionals who will lead future railway innovation.

Prof. Ahn contributed to the planning and establishment of the Railway Standard Mobility Program, a contract-based master’s program jointly launched by Korea Railroad Corporation and KAIST in August 2024. The program was designed to select outstanding KORAIL employees and provide them with graduate-level education at KAIST in advanced railway technologies and mobility convergence.

The Railway Standard Mobility Program is operated as a systematic talent development program, selecting approximately 20 participants each year and supporting advanced coursework, research activities in emerging technologies, and international technical exchange. The program also provides a strong educational environment for working professionals through full-time study, intensive coursework during vacation periods, and financial support for tuition and educational expenses.

This award highlights the effort to connect railway field expertise with KAIST’s research and education capabilities, contributing to the advancement of Korea’s railway industry.
