The KAIST Mobility AX Research Institute is expanding its collaboration with Chungcheongnam-do and regional industry–academia–research institutions to advance future mobility and AI transformation.
The KAIST Mobility AX Research Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of a Chungnam Mobility AX collaboration hub, together with the Eco-Friendly Agricultural Machinery Digital Technology R&D Center at Chungnam National University, the Intelligent Vehicle Research Institute at Kongju National University, and the Cheonan-Asan Innopolis Campus of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute.
The agreement aims to connect the participating institutions’ capabilities in research, education, demonstration, and start-up support across future mobility areas, including autonomous driving, AI, and eco-friendly electrification. Through this partnership, the institutions plan to pursue joint R&D projects, professional talent development, technology demonstration and commercialization support, and the planning of national and regional R&D programs.
The KAIST Mobility AX Research Institute, jointly established by Chungcheongnam-do and KAIST, serves as a key research hub for future mobility in the central region of Korea. The institute conducts research on applying AI technologies to a wide range of mobility fields, including autonomous driving, robotics, and advanced air mobility, while supporting the growth and settlement of mobility companies in the region.
Prof. Kitae Jang, Director of the KAIST Mobility AX Research Institute, stated that the combined strengths of the Cheonan-Asan Innopolis Campus in corporate support and the participating university research institutes in core technology development are expected to create meaningful synergy, helping future mobility become a new growth engine for the central region.
Through this MOU, the KAIST Mobility AX Research Institute will continue to strengthen regional industry–academia–research collaboration and promote practical outcomes in future mobility and AI transformation.
