The KAIST Cho Chun Shik Graduate School of Mobility held graduation presentations and an awards ceremony for the first cohort of the Railway Standard Mobility Program, operated in collaboration with Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL).

The Railway Standard Mobility Program is a master’s program designed to connect KORAIL’s field expertise with KAIST’s research and education capabilities in mobility. Launched through the cooperation between KORAIL and KAIST, the program aims to cultivate railway professionals with expertise across railway vehicles, infrastructure, electrical systems, and railway management.

The graduation presentations provided an opportunity for the first cohort to share how they connected their professional experience in the railway field with academic research at KAIST. Through research conducted in the laboratories of the Cho Chun Shik Graduate School of Mobility, the students presented outcomes that addressed real-world railway challenges from an interdisciplinary mobility perspective.

During the awards ceremony, students were recognized for their outstanding research performance and academic achievement. Pilhoo Jung of EMC Lab received the Best Student Training Award. The Outstanding Student Training Award was presented to Sangmi Kang and Suji Lim of Human-FACTS Lab, Jihye Baek of TUPA Lab, and Geunwoo Lee of AIS Lab. Chunggyo Hong of TUPA Lab received the Academic Excellence Award.

The graduation presentations and awards ceremony of the first cohort mark a meaningful milestone in the joint effort between KORAIL and KAIST to cultivate future railway professionals. The event demonstrated how field-based challenges can be developed into academic research outcomes and, in turn, contribute to the future competitiveness of the railway industry.

The Cho Chun Shik Graduate School of Mobility will continue to strengthen its collaboration with KORAIL and further develop an education model that connects railway expertise with future mobility research.
