Father Kim En Jong’s Latest Artwork Installed in the 3rd Floor Faculty Lounge

A new artwork by Father Kim En Jong has been installed in the 3rd floor Faculty Lounge.

Father Kim En Jong is a Dominican priest and painter who, since his ordination in 1974, has been based in Paris, France, where he has built a distinctive artistic world spanning painting and stained glass. He is internationally renowned for work that completes the space itself through color and light, and he has a record of exhibiting works at Notre-Dame Cathedral as well. In Ambert, France, a dedicated permanent exhibition space called Passage Kim en Joong was established in 2019, demonstrating his stature and influence.

Father Kim En Jong, the “Painter of Light” Who Brightens the World with Stained Glass

One of his best-known works is the stained-glass project for the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Évry, France, and he has continued to produce architectural-scale works in which light and color come together across churches and monastic spaces.

Through this installation, members of our community can encounter the work of the “painter of light” up close in an everyday setting.
